New Year's Resolutions

Pathway Points

Stepping Up for Jesus

The new year is nearly here! This year my family is going to try out a new tradition on New Year’s Eve. We’re going to hangout with friends, play games, snack, and actually stay up until midnight to welcome in 2018. Here’s hoping I don’t fall asleep on someone else’s couch!

Another new thing to try concerns setting New Year’s resolutions. Have you ever included Jesus in your process? That’s one of the amazing things about him, he wants to be a part of every aspect of our lives, and quite frankly, most of the time we fail to keep our resolutions because to do so requires more strength than we possess on our own.

For those of you that are ready to take the next step or to go deeper, use the questions I shared in this article. For those of you that including Jesus in your resolutions is new, I have a couple of worksheets from LifeTree to help you get started. The worksheets are based on the verse:

Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people. Luke 2:52 (NLT)

As you work through either set above, don’t forget to prayerfully ask Jesus to guide you and to ask him to give you the strength to follow through. One of the ways that Jesus is already helping you is by providing a church community to support you. Share your resolutions with me via Facebook (tag me or share to the Grace page), email, snail mail, or in person. Then, check in periodically to offer others encouragement and receive encouragement yourself.

Stepping up with you in His strength!

At Grace, one of my responsibilities is to publish a weekly article in our e-newsletter, GraceNotes, about discipleship. Specifically, about the various components of our Discipleship Pathway and how a person could journey along it. This is my most recent article.
