What is Advent?

Stepping Up for Jesus

As of last Sunday, it’s officially Advent, a season of waiting and preparation for Jesus’s birth and a reminder that we’re also waiting for his second coming. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Advent (don’t worry, a lot of churches don’t observe it) here’s a video from Busted Halo that does an excellent job of explaining it: Advent in Two Minutes. For those of you that are ready to take the Next Step, it’s not too late to start! Here are two online ways to observe Advent: Advent Calendar or InstaAdvent Photo Challenge. For those of you that are ready to Go Deeper, Busted Halo provides a personal retreat idea: A Lesson in Waiting: An Advent Retreat. No matter how you choose to observe Advent, remember it’s all about taking time to get to know Jesus a little better and to learn to actively wait for him both to work in our lives and to return to reign here on earth.

Stepping up with you in His strength!

At Grace, one of my responsibilities is to publish a weekly article in our e-newsletter, GraceNotes, about discipleship. Specifically, about the various components of our Discipleship Pathway and how a person could journey along it. This is my most recent article.
